Americans are richer than Canadians on average, but the wealth advantage is largely concentrated in a top tier of wealthy U.S. citizens. Look at median net worth -- that is, the net worth of someone precisely in the middle of the wealth distribution -- and a typical Canadian is better off than a typical American.
