Weather balloon launches at 12 p.m. GMT on July 1, 2026

In the 1950s, members of the World Meteorological Organization agreed to launch weather balloons twice a day – at noon and midnight Greenwich Mean Time – for data collection and forecasting purposes. But a large swath of stations in the American West are no longer adhering to that schedule.
