Expected spending to raise a child in Canada

Here's how much two-parent families with two children (the most common family type) can expect to spend for one child from birth to the age of 17 and from birth to the age of 22, according to the latest estimate from Statistics Canada. Dollar figures represent 2017 dollars.

*Household income ranges before tax are: Less than $83,013 for "lower income", $83,013 to $135,790 for "medium income" and above $135,790 for "higher income."
